Enrollment
Medina Montessori School accepts children for enrollment regardless of gender, race, creed, color or ethnic origin. To be accepted for enrollment a child must be totally self sufficient when using the toilet. Parents interested in placing a child in Medina Montessori School are invited to contact the school to arrange a visit. Parents usually make an appointment to observe a class for an hour or so. This is best done without their child on this first visit. On the second visit, parents are asked to bring their child for a minimum of one hour. At this time a child is invited to meet the other children and join the class activities. This provides the teacher with an opportunity to observe the child in a group dynamic. At the end of the visit, if parents wish, arrangements can be made for a short meeting, outside of class time, to go over the schools contract and policies. At this time they may continue to the third step for enrollment by submitting the registration form and fee.
Accepting your child for enrollment :
1. means MMS is committed to maintaining, for your child, the fundamental
nature of MMS,
2. means enabling your child to achieve their full potential
within the time frame of their developmental plane,
3. means realizing the tendency of the child to strongly bond with
peers and the guide(s),
4. means you as parents, to the best of your ability, plan your child's MMS enrollment duration to be the equivalent of the time frame of this plane of child development.
Enrollment:
Enrollment is secured through contractual commitment for the dates applied to them and shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of the state of Washington.
Enrollment eligibility:
Children must be between the ages of 3 (or nearly three) through 5 years and are admitted regardless of gender, creed, race or color, ethnic or national origin. Children must be self-sufficient when using the toilet. Children enrolled in this school should not be enrolled in another preschool program running concurrent with the schedule of Medina Montessori.
Early Enrollment:
Children should be turning three by the end of a calendar year, and admission depends on the readiness of the child. A child admitted before a 3rd birthday is expected to remain in the program until they reach eligibility for kindergarten programs of private and/or public schools. In exchange for this opportunity of early enrollment, there can be no exception to this expectation.
Mid-year Enrollment:
To be eligible for mid-year enrollment, children being enrolled after December of any school year are expected to remain for the entirety of their program beginning the following September. Submit the application fee and non-refundable tuition deposit covering the current academic year. There will be a June payment of one-half month tuition for those entering the program mid-year.
The items in this section are consistent with area Montessori and other independent schools.
Tuition Payment Options:
The tuition contract and payment method applies to the entire contract year. Tuition can be paid on a bi-annual payment or a monthly basis of ten equal payments. There is no July or August tuition payment (w/exception of summer session). Tuition can be paid by cash or check.
An application/registration fee is required to secure a place on the waiting list. A tuition deposit will be required to secure a place in the class. If there is no opening before October 1 of a calendar year, the application deposit will be refunded or, if agreed upon by both parties, both registration fee and the tuition deposit can be applied to insure class enrollment the following academic year.
