Medina Montessori en Francais

Les Particulaires:

This class will begin on February 1, 2008.*

  1. class day is Friday
  2. class time is 9:30a.m. to 11:30a.m.
  3. enrollment will be accepted through the third class of February
  4. late enrollees:  After Feb. 29, please wait for the next session beginning after Spring Break
  5. There are ten classes in this Winter Session.  The Spring Session will have 5 classes.
  6. The winter program fee is $400.00 payable in total or on a monthly basis of @$200; by January 28, and again by February 27.

La raison d’être:

Using the best policies, principles and practices of the Montessori Method of early childhood education, this class is designed to:

  1. To take advantage of the uniquely absorbent nature of the very young child to receive and retain another language concurrently with the native tongue.
  2. Isolate the aural and oral qualities (vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, physical properties of word formation, etc.)
  3. Utilise Un Peu du Français to its fullest

Le technique:

Accomplish the above using:

  1. Mr. Grenouille
  2. daily music and lyrics of traditional and contempory children’s’ music in French,
  3. daily short story  or chapter reading
  4. games (Ou se trouve? Lotto, etc.)
  5. marionette theater for children’s dialogue in French
  6. employing the Montessori materials while speaking in French (very simple sentences at first)

  4. les fleurs en Français, les chansons, un petit l’histoire, les vitales (snack), “Que fait tu?”
  5. les animaux en Français, les chansons, un petit l’histoire, les vitales (snack), “Que fait tu?”
  6. prêt-a-porter, les chansons, un petit l’histoire, les vitales (snack), “Que fait tu?”
  7. le corps en Français, les chansons, un petit l’histoire, les vitales (snack), “Que fait tu?”
  8. a la maison, les chansons, un petit l’histoire, les vitales (snack), “Que fait tu?”
  9. au supermarché, les chansons, un petit l’histoire, les vitales (snack), “Que fait tu?”
  10. dans le jardin, les chansons, un petit l’histoire, les vitales (snack), “Que fait tu?”

* The program will begin on February 1 and finish on April 4, just before Spring Break.  Any Fridays in conflict with established school activities will be credited to the Spring session.
